Nektar Specialty Coffee Roasters and Exporters is a Canadian-Ethiopian company established in 2015.

Our roasting operations are based in Ethiopia, where coffee was first discovered and also is home to unique varietals of specialty and premium coffee that is loved and favored all around the world.


Our company leverages on these coffee sources to come up with our very own single origin Specialty selections as well as our offering of unique blends of specialty and premium coffees to suite a variety of clientele.

The roastery possesses a well-equipped coffee laboratory and professionals, as we strive to satisfy markets in Australia, Canada, Ethiopia, Norway, UK, USA and beyond.

We will be sponsoring the Ethiopian Airlines’ in-flight coffee experience, although this is currently on hold due to Covid-19 pandemic and we expect it to resume shortly.


Our Coffee Sites


Eldima birbesa | Sem'alo | Dire -Dimtu hambela

Eledima-Berbesa is located in Western, further south-East from Kercha town, where some of our washed and sundried coffee is collected and processed from the surrounding mountains. Sem’alo and Dere are the youngest coffee processing sites. Sem’alo is west of Chelelektu at an altitude of 1900-2200 meters above sea level, whereas Dere is located in the well-known Hambela area that has a very distinct coffee in the Guji zone.

The sizable portion of Ethiopia is part of the fertile and mineral rich great rift valley. Our coffee from the Guji regions of Ethiopia is organic, and naturally endowed with very distinct and complex floral and fruity fragrances, aroma and taste notes; prominent notes of berries and fruit, juicy and fruity acidity and pleasant aftertaste. This is due to the fact that this rift-valley mountains are volcanic, have rich minerals and organic acids.

The first thing you notice when you visit our site is the raised coffee drying beds with beautiful bright red coffee cherries. Some already dried up and others set out to dry, it has a warehouse where the coffee is protected from the elements until it is ready to be shipped. 

Tecoricha-Birbesa site is some kilometers apart from the dry processing site in Elidema although, located in the same area, in west Guji. This site has wet processing, and the first thing you notice when you go inside the gated compound is a big cherry-hulling machine and right after, there is a fermentation tank, washing channels and as you can see illustrated in the picture there are lots of Raised coffee drying-beds to dry the washed parchment on good time.
